The goal of Typically Different is to help create a world where individuals with neurological variations are properly understood, accommodated, and embraced. Using a neurodiversity perspective, we strive to educate the public on conditions such as intellectual and learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and many others.
By providing accessible, science-based information on the various neurological differences—and by addressing not only the challenges that come with them but also their gifts and strengths—we hope to break stereotypes, dispel misconceptions, and remove the barriers to social integration faced by the neurodiverse.
When we try to understand and fully integrate individuals with brain variations into our communities—and by integration we mean social, not simply physical, integration—we enrich everyone’s lives, and allow people to experience the full spectrum of human diversity. We hope you will join us in this effort!
